Every key movement within church history has a common thread – a heart for cities.

Paul’s target was the major cities, with an eye on Rome. The apex of Jesus ministry began when He set His face to Jerusalem. The story of salvation begins in a garden and ends in a city.

Think for a minute….do you know any remarkable pastor that doesn’t have a heart for his city?

God’s people and church have a soul for winning major cities.

That’s why I’m so excited about Jarrett and Jeanne Stevens’ move to the heart of Chicago to start Soul City Church.

I have come to love Chicago,  particularly the true center of the city. Some of my best friends are there. I’ve run races there. I’m helping Willow Creek find a Pastor for their very cool campus, Willow Chicago.

But with more than 8 million people in the City, there’s an urgent need and room for more transformational churches in the city. Chicago needs Soul City Church. Jarrett and Jeanne have the vision, the competency, and the leadership horsepower to make a big difference with a big launch this spring.

But for Soul City to launch, some Christians with a heart for the city need to step up and help launch this movement by giving $25 today. I just did.
