Yesterday, Revolution Church in Canton, Georgia announced Jason Gerdes as their new Lead Pastor. Jason’s appointment is a real answer to prayer.
I’m particularly pleased to see this as I got the chance to lead the search for Jason through my work with FaithSearch Partners. Tony Morgan played a key role in the process, and has posted a great interview with Jason on his blog.
Jason’s selection came after seeing about 1000 people show interest in the search. We culled those responses down to about 100 prospects, then to about 25 initial interviews, then a handful of finalists. Through the process, Jason rose to the top as not only a great talent, but the right match for the DNA and needs of Revolution.

Take a minute to get to know Jason, and to pray a prayer of thanks for the completion of an important transition in Revolution’s life. They had a really rough go of things during the departure of their former pastor. Seeing their staff rise to the challenge, come through it stronger, and more poised for the future is a cool thing. Knowing that FaithSearch, Tony, and I had a part in helping that happen makes me sleep really well at night.

Seeking out and finding God’s leader for a church is an awesome responsibility.
The need for wisdom and guidance is magnified ten fold when a church has experienced great difficulty.
I recall one church in situation like that where the search process was a humbling and unifying force in the body. In another situation, I saw division take root. The process lasted six years and the church hasn’t recovered to this day.
It is great to hear of the confidence you both have in Jason being God’s man for Revolution at this critical juncture. I have prayed for them.
